There have been many challenges to face since the death of my
husband, Bob. One challenge was to pack up his clothes to give away.
I think I was able to do this because my daughter and I went through
Bob’s clothes and picked out things that really said Bob/Daddy to
us. These items included his favorite T-shirts identifying his
interests such as windsurfing, hiking, the outdoors generally, music
and math. We also included jeans, a bathrobe, pajamas and even his
softest boxers.
The completed (quilts) are so much more than I ever believed they
could be. It is impossible to explain the beauty, the feel and the
comfort of it. Each piece reflects Bob’s persona. The pieces blend
moments and stories and my thoughts about how he carried himself in
this world. I keep my (quilt) in my bedroom and when I use it to
stay warm and connected to Bob I can let myself feel, feelings of
deep loss mixed with feelings of deep love.
The quilt came out great!!!!
I just love the fleece you used for
backing--nice and warm and cuddly. I will need to get some more
business cards from you!

Memory quilt for a dear friend
Dear Susan, I can not put the words together that express the gratitude I
feel for all you have done for myself and my friend’s three
children.
The (quilts) are such a special, comforting and loving object that
(the children) will treasure always. They truly make the children
feel close to their Mom. For me, it has been comforting to know that
I have given them something that can help them during this difficult
time. Nothing can replace their Mother’s presence, but in a very
real way, the (quilts) give them her lap to cry into. Thank you very
much for being so instrumental in our healing process.
